Directed by Frank Pavich, hardcore documentary N.Y.H.C. is slated for release by Halo-8 Entertainment as a two-disc DVD on March 29. The vanguard film, which chronicles hardcore punk subculture, was originally distributed as an underground VHS tape in 1999.
The film traces seven bands, originating from different parts of New York, during the summer of 1995. Featured on the original video are interviews with key hardcore musicians Jimmy Gestapo (Murphy’s Law), John Joseph (Cro-Mags), Lord Ezec (Crown of Thornz, Danny Diablo), Roger Miret (Agnostic Front), Rick ta Life (25 ta Life), Vic DiCara & Rasaraja das (108), and Freddy Madball (Madball).
New material, shot by Pavich for the second disc, includes a Where Are They Now? featurette, a retrospective look at old concert venues, and previously unreleased live performances by VOD, 108, Madball, 25 ta Life, and Crown of Thornz.
Recent releases on alternative indie distributor Halo-8 Entertainment include Your Mommy Kills Animals, Threat, and Punk Rock Holocaust 2.
