“You Only Live Once,” the group’s third single from First Impressions of Earth, will get a makeover from visual effects artist Warren Fu.

Indie rock minimalists The Strokes, whose most recent album First Impressions of Earth was released in January of 2006, will be issuing an alternate video for “You Only Live Once” on May 29.

A sneak preview of the video, which was directed by former LucasFilm visual effects artist Warren Fu, can be seen at the band’s profile on online community IMEEM. The site will exclusively host the video.

The Strokes will also coincide a re-launch of their website with the release of the new video, which pays respect to Stanley Kubrick’s legendary film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
