Marathon runners, crazy and into shitty music

We already knew marathon runners were crazy (paying to run?!, what?), and now we know they have shitty taste in music too.

One thousands runners from the 13th Annual Chicago Half Marathon (taking place Sunday, Sept. 13) were polled for their favorite running songs. Here are the results:

1. Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)
2. Let’s Get It Started (Black Eyed Peas)
3. I Got a Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)
4. Boom Boom Pow (Black Eyes Peas)
5. Gonna Fly Now (Rocky Theme Song)
6. Born to Run (Bruce Springsteen)
7. Start Me Up (The Rolling Stones)
8. Let It Rock (Kevin Rudolf)
9. Thunderstruck (AC/DC)
10. Poker Face (Lady Gaga)
11. Viva La Vida (Coldplay)
12. Don’t Stop Believin’ (Journey)
13. Move Along (All American Rejects)

  1. Yeah, that’s cause they don’t know any better. Here are my top songs to run to (sorry they are a little bit dated):
    Grass Animal Collective
    It’5! Architecture In Helsinki
    Ooh La La Faces
    Long Distance Call Phoenix
    The Underdog Spoon
    Summertime Clothes Animal Collective
the Honey, the Power, the Light (Kyle’s Blues) Golden Shoulders
    Patience Darling, Patience Golden Shoulders
    Napoleon Says Phoenix
    Consolation Prizes Phoenix
Tonight I Have To Leave It Shout Out Louds
    Fiery Crash Andrew Bird
Keep The Car Running Arcade Fire

  2. I’m training for a half right now and have been jamming out to a few of these songs:

    My Girls-Animal Collective
    Stillness is the Move-Dirty Projectors
    You! Me! Dancing!-Los Campesinos
    Keep the Car Running-Arcade Fire
    Ceremony-Joy Division
    Feels Just Like it Should-Jamiriquoi
The Party’s Crashing Us- Of Montreal
    I’ve Got Your Number-Passion Pit
This Tornado Loves You- Neko Case
    Tracking Treasure Down-Gabriel & Dresden

  3. I only listen to metal exclusively. It might be why I’m never around these people at races. That song list will make you run slower than molasses.

  4. Don’t run anymore, but last time I did it was when the latest Torche album came out (Meanderthal) – damn good record to run to, especially the first half with the more upbeat tracks.
