Jazz drummer Scott Amendola has a new trio, rounded out by Tortoise guitarist Jeff Parker and bass troubadour John Shifflett. The appropriately named Scott Amendola Trio is set to release its debut album — though hardly a debut for any of the members — Lift on October 18.
Details are limited at the moment, but you can stream a few songs from the album on Amendola’s website. The veteran drummer had this to say about the group: “They’re such great musicians that you can literally put anything in front of them and they’re going to make great music from it. And it’s going to be them, their interpretation, which is exciting to me as a bandleader.”
The album artwork is a painting by Mexican artist Victor Zubeldia.
