“Like a Mouse”

“Like a Mouse.” The words imply subtlety, silence, tiptoeing. They don’t imply massive guitars, frenetic drumming, euphoric melodies, or vocals that consist only of shouted exclamations of joy. And So I Watch You From Afar couldn’t care less.

The first single from its 2013 album, All Hail Bright Futures, is all of those things, revisiting and magnifying the elements that made us swoon for the band’s last album. Influenced by worldwide touring, the album promises an eclectic mix of sounds and colors, a blender of math-rock riffs and unyielding excitement.
