Our photo coverage of Friday’s festivities comes with a sizable asterisk. Not only did we miss out on shots of The War on Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, The New No. 2, and The Shins due to professional responsibilities (work), but the photo pit for Black Sabbath was hand-chosen and heavily restricted. Because of this, we have no visuals to share of arguably the best set of the weekend: Sabbath, bloody Sabbath!
For the record, Ozzy and crew still have it (despite some off-key vocal moments) and possessed some of the festival’s best sound. Fill-in drummer Tommy Clufetos filled a good five minutes alone with a blistering, double-bass-filled drum solo. Metal.
