Last Shop Standing: Documentary declared official film of Record Store Day 2013

Record Store DayRecord Store Day has made the third Saturday in April an audiophile holiday for five years now, and they will continue that streak on April 20, 2013 with exclusive releases from At the Drive-In, The Flaming Lips, Hüsker Dü, Buddy Guy, David BowieBest Coast, Mad Season, Paul Weller, and more.

Last Shop Standing: The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of the Independent Record Shop is a documentary, directed by Pip Piper and based on the book by Graham Johnson, chronicling the tragic and triumphant saga of independent record stores, particularly in the UK. From the 1980s when there were more than 2200 in Great Britain to 2009 when only 269 were left, the film interviews shop owners, collectors, and musicians about their experiences in the business, their memories of shops, and what the industry can do to find new life. See the trailer below and hit your local music emporium on April 20.
