Gear is big, gear is heavy, and gear sucks to transport. How about a device that lets you “virtually” play an assortment of instruments, all powered by your iPhone or iPod Touch?

The Artiphon Instrument 1 allows just that. If that’s confusing (and it is if you haven’t seen it), watch the video below. With a six-string, six-fret fingerboard, the instrument can recreate guitar, upright bass, violin, keyboard, and more. It also lets you make and loop beats and save your creations, acting as an all-purpose machine to play and demo on the go.
