Death From Above’s New Video Was Shot on a Phone

Canadian alt-rock duo Death From Above have just released a sleek new video for their single “Never Swim Alone.” The clip features lyrics scrawled across a cool black and white aesthetic while the band sings and dances along.

The coolest part? The whole clip was shot by the band on a phone in a London hotel room.

In the last few years, the music industry has seen an explosion (Ellie Goulding, T-Pain, Kurt Vile) in smartphone use for music videos.  Check them out:

Ellie Goulding – “How Long Will I Love You”

T-Pain – “Look At Me”

Kurt Vile – “Baby’s Arms”

One of the most well-known phone videos is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ “No Love Like Yours” which was filmed by none other than House actress (and Hollywood megastar) Olivia Wilde.

Dig even deeper and you’ll find plenty of short films shot entirely on phones as well. Do some Googling on this – there’s some really interesting stuff out there.

“Never Swim Alone” is from Death From Above’s upcoming album Outrage! Is Now, due out September 8 via Warner Bros./Last Gang. Tour dates below.
