Among the thousands of under-appreciated or under-publicized albums that were released in 2010, hundreds became our favorites and were presented in ALARM and on AlarmPress.com. Of those, we pared down to 100 outstanding releases — from the progressive-industrial madness of Norway’s Shining to the folk-hop rhymes of Sage Francis to the orchestral Italian oldies of Mike Patton‘s Mondo Cane project.

Another week, another contest from ALARM. This time, we’re giving one reader a chance to win a pair of weekend passes to Moogfest, a major three-day electronic festival that has moved from New York to Asheville, North Carolina. Total retail value of these babies is $369. Moogfest 2010 is taking place in venues all over Asheville during Halloween weekend, Oct. 29, 30, and 31.
Native San Antonian producer Ernest Gonzales releases his harder-hitting material and Mexicans with Guns, and he has just made public the video for his enticing club hit “Dame Lo.” Produced, directed, and edited by Ðueý FṀ (a.k.a. The collaborations continue with Berlin’s Robot Koch, who will be featured alongside artists like Free the Robots (Alpha Pup), Lunice (Lucky Me), Mux Mool (Ghostly), Salva (Frite Nite), Alex B (Elm&Oak), and King Cannibal (Ninja Tune) on Friends of Friends’ mix album Volume 3 out October 5, 2010 digitally and on limited-edition vinyl.
