Despite Saturday night’s frigid cold, a sizeable crowd gathered at the Empty Bottle in Chicago to see local glam-punk favorites BANG! BANG! and hear the newest tunes by La Scala, celebrating the release of their newest EP, The Harlequin, on Chicago’s Highwheel Records.
Comedic boy-girl indie rock quartet Lets Get Out of This Terrible Sandwich Show started out the night with an energetic set and a tongue-in-cheek attempt at a “controversial” new logo.
La Scala’s combination of Brit-pop and Gypsy rock has already had people talking, and after witnessing the polished four piece in action, it seems that the future is bright for the Chicago four-piece.
Bang! Bang!’s high-octane performance sizzled. Playing tracks off of this year’s The Dirt That Makes You Drown, the heat sparked by the power-pop trio was the perfect ending before heading back out into the cold night air.
