Thor: Thor Against the World

Thor - Thor Against the World The fact that this album exists kinda pisses me off. It’s not even as terrible as I first thought, but it’s pretty bad. The people who decide what records get put out should be held more accountable for their products.

Take Thor for example: I’m sure all of Williamsburg’s irony lovin’ hipsters will go crazy for this, when in reality, it’s a really bad metal record. I don’t even think that Jay Shelby (of the rock-out-with-your-cock-out metal band Sinpusher) would like this.

The best way I can describe this would be to liken it to the music you would expect to hear in a USA channel made for TV movie from the 80s. This would be the plot: a group of despondent teens in the near future try to escape from the closed society in which they are trapped, and this is the background music for their heroic escape.

If you know what I am talking about, you know what I am talking about; if you don’t, I will spell it out for you: fist pumping riffs, a dude in a fur bikini telling you how it is with him and his lady, near the end of the album there is a bit of wistfulness, and after that, Thor must rock, because he is Thor! This is what Tenacious D was making fun of.

Download it if you must hear it, but save your money, you have been warned. Oh yeah, there is a video stuck on the end of a live show cut in with scenes from some Lou Diamond Phillips movie.
