31Knots: Polemics EP

Polemics is a little noisier, a little more avant-garde than 31Knots’ previous album, Talk Like Blood, but it is definitely accessible. “Sedition’s Wish” is the EP’s best song, and with its catchy vocal and guitar melodies, it is sure to please any indie rock fan.

“Vanish,” which is available for download on the band’s website, is a little more wispy and unorthodox, a little more effects-laden than usual for this band.

The EP delivers progressive rock in spades, while still keeping their dub-infused bounce in check. According to the band, most EPs are generally a scattershot of leftover songs and ideas. This EP is cohesive yet diverse, and overall, provides an excellent starting point for newcomers who have yet to experience the variety of music 31Knots creates. It also gives us something to look forward to in the form of their next LP.
