Golden Gods: …The Thorny Crown of Rock and Roll

Golden Gods - ...The Thorny Crown of Rock and Roll From the images on the cover of this disc, you really want to hate the Golden Gods. Half naked men wearing open fur coats, about to make sweet love to their instruments (literally) all just seems so excessively cliché. However, once you start to listen to the disc it is undeniable that this group has a lot of energy and they do rock and roll very well.

The vocals sound quite a lot like Foreigner, but the music is a more updated, heavier type of rock and roll. The bonus track, a cover of Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move” is a nice way to finish off the disc, which by the end of I had just about had enough of the Golden Gods. Not quite as gritty and mean as Bad Wizard, but in the same league for sure.
