On Murray’s Revenge, Murs and producer 9th Wonder of Little Brother fame team up for a sequel to 2005’s 3:16. There is definitely a great musical chemistry between these two as they produce another top-notch album. Murs, one of L.A.’s most underrated emcees, is still going strong with another album full of witty, sarcastic, tongue-cheek humor and thought-provoking lyrics.
Thoughout the disc, the talented MC blends his words together perfectly so the listener can visualize his rhymes.
From songs about girls to the struggles of life and his hometown, Murs can entertain his audience with the true essence of hip hop. 9th Wonder blesses this album beautifully with his soulful boom bap. However, 9th even flips his own style gracefully on cuts like, “Murray’s Law,” “L.A.,” and “Murray’s Revenge.”After seeing Murs live recently and hearing him jokingly talk trash about 9th Wonder, I have doubts about another album. That’s a shame, because musically, their styles belong together.
