2007 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash

Joey Ramone Bday Bash
The 7th Annual Bash, celebrating what would have been Joey Ramone‘s 56th birthday, will be on Saturday, May 19th at The Fillmore NY at Irving Plaza. The New York Dolls will perform along with many other artists.

Ramone passed away in April 2001 after a protracted battle with lymphoma. The event was organized by Ramone‘s brother Mickey Leigh. Tickets were sold out before the lineup was announced. Leigh feels that Ramone would be overjoyed to know that The New York Dolls would play at the Bash because the band was a huge influence.

Slinky Vagabond, a new band composed of famous people from famous bands, will make their world debut. The Chesterfield Kings, The Bullys, and Lucky Devil Thrillshow are some of the bands featured in the lineup. Little Steven Van Zandt and Matt Pinfield will MC.

There will be a raffle to raise money for The Joey Ramone Foundation for Lymphoma Research. The raffle tickets are at $2 per ticket and will be available night of show at the venue and at the following locations between May 11 – 17:

Trash and Vaudeville (4 St. Marks Place NYC); Niagara (112 Ave. A at 7th St. NYC 4pm-4am); 2A (25 Ave. A between 1st & 2nd Sts. 4pm-4am); Continental (25 Third Ave. near St. Marks Place 4pm-4am). The raffle drawing will be at the Bash. The Grand Prize is a T-shirt from Ramone‘s own collection, and the second prize is five CDs from his personal collection.
