With thematic elements sure to provoke mixed thoughts, fine art gallery Aftermodern has arranged a midsummer party and review of its current exhibit for this Friday, July 13. That display, titled Emerging International Photographers, features images that delve into social, political, and sexual issues in a global and urban context.
The exhibit opened on June 23 and features the work of Charles Anselmo, a photographer/painter and former resident of Japan whose exploration of Cuba drew Aftermodern‘s attention. The gallery is also hosting the stark imagery of photographers Anoush Abrar (creator of “Katie,” shown above), Walead Beshty, Tim Davis, Desiree Holman, Lucy Levene, Yoshua Okon, and Ted Partin. Californian painters Molly McCracken, Cathy Liu, Katie Humphries, and Aaron White have their work shown in Aftermodern’s upstairs gallery.
The party and review take place Friday from 6-9 pm PT. Emerging International Photographers runs until August 4.
