Autechre Returns with Quaristice

autechre.jpgThe always-unclassifiable Autechre have announced the release of their ninth album, Quaristice, early next year through their long-running home-label, Warp Records.

There’s no official word on the release date, but seeing how the group has experimented with everything from ambient electro to pulsating hip hop, it’s best to have no clear expectations of where the album will take you.

The group, which consists of the long-standing musical partnership of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, have been true pioneers of bridging the gap between modern music and technology, using new and old synths and computer-based machinery. Never predictable with their music or direction, Autechre also helped start the infamous All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2000 and curated it in 2003.

Want to really give yourself a total mind-warp? Check out the band’s Myspace page. They might top electro-weirdos Yip Yip for most spontaneous headaches caused by a website.
