The topic, however, is never as blatant as in “1957,” Situation‘s second track. With his unvarying, straightfoward delivery, Buck name drops jazz legend Thelonious Monk, rock star Buddy Holly, novelist William Faulkner, and serial killer Ed Gein over shifty, tinkling, two-note piano chords. Though rooted in hip hop beats and vocals, Situation scores points with its ability to musically crossover.
The album, Buck 65‘s first U.S. release since the This Here is Buck 65 collection, will be issued by Sage Francis‘ Strange Famous Records.
