There’s finally a good reason to look forward to January. International pop/world musicians Dengue Fever are starting 2008 out right with their anticipated third full-length album Venus on Earth, set for release on January 22.

The album, second under The Birdman Recording Group, finds the LA-based six-piece presenting eleven original tracks, foregoing the ’60s Cambodian rock covers of previous efforts.

And if three months still feels like too long to wait for their psychedelic, dance-inducing tunes, the band is scheduled to preview songs from Venus on Earth at the Womex Music Conference, the biggest professional music conference in the world, in Seville, Spain on October 27. Dengue Fever was one of thirty bands out of 600 applicants to be chosen to perform at the exclusive conference.

The innovative group of rockers, headed by Cambodian native and Blondie-inspired songstress Ch’hom Nimol, has seen significant growth since their self-titled debut in 2003 for Secret Chiefs 3 mastermind Trey Spruance and his record label, Web of Mimicry. The band has since had songs featured in multiple soundtracks, including Broken Flowers and Must Love Dogs.

Dengue Fever will tour America’s west coast throughout the fall and winter and perform at a few free festivals. Check out the details below.
