In addition to putting out a DVD of their 2005 reunion, J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Emmett Patrick Murphy have hit the road in support of their new album.
Newly reunited cult rock icons Dinosaur Jr., who released their first album of new material since 1997 on May 1 (Beyond, Fat Possum), will have a DVD of their 2005 tour issued on the 29th of this month.
With original bassist Lou Barlow (Sebadoh, Folk Implosion) back in the fold, the group’s live performances in December of 2005 thrilled fans. Mostly filmed at Middle East in Boston and Irving Plaza in New York, the disc, titled Live in the Middle East, is footage of that reunion tour and also includes interviews with Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Mike Watt (fIREHOSE, The Minutemen, The Unknown Instructors), Steve Albini (Shellac), and others.
Dinosaur Jr., which dusted off classics in 2005 while seeming as tight as ever, just began a national tour in support of Beyond. For the full list of tour dates that extend through mid-June in the United States, head to the band’s website.
