Anomalous genre amalgamators Estradasphere have announced the forthcoming release of The Pegasus Vault EP, a collection of unreleased studio material that will accompany an assortment of leftovers from their last full-length album, Palace of Mirrors.

The six-piece classical/metal/jazz outfit hasn’t yet disclosed whether the EP will be released through The End Records, as faux-soundtrack Palace of Mirrors was in September of 2006, but it promises extras and collectibles. “You will not believe some of the songs that almost made [Palace of Mirrors],” said bassist Tim Smolens.

Smolens will soon be heading to Europe, where he will be performing in trio form with the two other original Estradasphere members, guitarist Jason Schimmel and violinist Timb Harris. The three will be overseas from November 22 to December 9, most notably playing at the John Zorn Masada festival in Milan, Italy on November 23.

Once there, they will perform with Indian/surf/spaghetti western troupe Secret Chiefs 3 and for Cobra, a frequently shifting musical composition written by Zorn. Secret Chiefs 3 leader Trey Spruance recently reinterpreted Masada material for the famous experimental jazz composer, and the resultant album is titled Xaphan: The Book of Angels, Vol. 9, which has been pushed from October to a January/February release on Tzadik.

Estradasphere have a performance DVD, titled Palace of Mirrors Live, being released by The End on November 20.
