Exploding Star Orchestra Performs in Poland, Sets Album for February

robmazurek.jpgStarting tomorrow, December 2, Rob Mazurek’s Exploding Star Orchestra will spend a week performing in Poland and Slovakia. The hard-bop cornetist/composer also has a new album to be released on Thrill Jockey on February 5.

Mazurek (shown above), a driving force behind the Chicago Underground Collective, is a frequent contributor to jazz scenes in Chicago and Brazil.

Thrill Jockey, one of many record labels to release Mazurek’s work, has a pair of 15th anniversary shows set for December 14 and 15 in Chicago.
