Fourth Kaki King Album Set for March

Percussive guitar slinger Kaki King is set to release her forth album, the follow-up to Until We Felt Red (2006), in March. The album, entitled Dreaming Of Revenge, will be released on March 4, 2008 through Velour Music Group.

Dreaming of Revenge was produced by Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois), and though it contains more of her fantastic fret work, the disc is much more pop-driven and further emphasizes vocals. King first accentuated vocals on Until We Felt Red, an album that was produced by John McEntire of Tortoise. The songs on Dreaming of Revenge are much more a full band effort, shifting King a bit out of the spotlight.

“Even thought half the tracks are instrumentals, I feel like I’m writing pop songs. We really concentrated on the melodies,” Kaki explained. “Everything I write tends to be dense and chordal, but this time the idea was to layer the challenging guitar work under very simple, beautiful melodies. I really wanted them to be memorable.”

Along with finishing her new album, the new-school guitar hero has been involved with several projects in ‘07, including composing music for a few scenes in Sean Penn’s Into the Wild. She also collaborated on a few albums, including a duet with Dave Grohl on the Foo Fighters’ new record Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace and a guest guitar spot on Tegan and Sara’s new full-length The Con.
