Esteemed comedy troupe The Second City has announced its sixth-annual 24-hour benefit event, “The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa,” which gives presents to needy children and families in Chicago for the holidays. The event takes place on December 4 at 7:00 PM and lasts for 24 hours.
Some of Chicago’s most well-known improvisers will perform games, long-form scenes, monologues, and more for the event’s duration. They’ll get a break from all the improv with special guest appearances by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy (shown left), who has participated every year and auctioned himself to perform a solo set at the highest bidder’s home, as well as Sally Timms & Jon Langford of the Mekons, Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy), Shellac frontman Steve Albini, alt-country artist Robbie Fulks, and Kim and Kelley Deal of The Breeders.
All proceeds are donated to the cause, including the $10.00 entry fee. The benefit will be located in The Second City e.t.c. at 1608 N. Wells in Piper’s Alley. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event.
