Jeffrey Brown Puts Spin on Transformers with Incredible Change-Bots

incredible_change_bots_cover_gif_lg.jpgComic book writer/artist Jeffrey Brown’s latest work, Incredible Change-Bots, is a comedic, romantic, action-packed tale of a war-torn planet full of robots that can turn into vehicles. An homage to Transformers, the book chronicles two groups of robots — the good Awesomebots and the evil Fantasticons — and their battles after their arrival on Earth.

Top Shelf Productions released Incredible Change-Bots on August 1. Brown has written popular books such as Clumsy, Every Girl Is the End of the World For Me, and Unlikely. He’s also dabbled in music, directing a music video, “Your Heart is an Empty Room,” for Death Cab For Cutie.

In an interview with Newsarama, the Michigan native said, “Change-Bots is my tribute/nostalgic reverie of the Transformers and their ilk. I’m aiming for three audiences with this one — people who already like my comics, people who are really into the Transformers, and people who see the movie and don’t know any better than to buy this book.”

The last page of the book offers a membership form for the official Change-Bots fan club that expires December 31, 2007. Membership includes an official membership card, fan-club-exclusive mini-comic, and a hand-drawn card featuring the Change-Bot of one’s choosing.

Brown’s upcoming ventures include Little Things, a collection of autobiographical, short-story comics set for release by Touchstone on April 1, 2008; Mome, a memoir of his high-school/college/art-school years and how he came to be a cartoonist; and Sulk, a regular series (three or four times a year) of 32-page comics for Top Shelf.
