LCD Soundsystem to Tour with Arcade Fire, Issue Digital EP

LCD SoundsystemAfter a miniature European tour, Grammy-nominated dance punk project LCD Soundsystem will return to North America this fall to tour with multi-layered Canadian rockers Arcade Fire. Just days after the tour begins, LCD is slated to perform live on Jay Leno as well as release a digital EP September 18th on DFA Records, the label of producer/vocalist James Murphy (shown left).

The upcoming digital EP, ingeniously titled A Bunch of Stuff, will include Franz Ferdinand’s cover of their current single, “All My Friends,” as well as a number of other covers from Sound of Silver and LCD’s radio performance of “Us vs. Them.”

Available for purchase during their North American tour will be a split seven-inch with Arcade Fire. The limited edition release will hold covers by both acts — LCD Soundsystem take on Joy Division’s “No Love Lost,” and Arcade Fire turn in a rendition of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Poupée de Cire.”

On the visual front, the video for the band’s upcoming UK single, “Someone Great,” is in the works. Multimedia artist Doug Aitken, whose most recent work, “Sleepwalkers,” was commissioned by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), is shooting an experimental short to accompany the track.

Last but not least, LCD Soundsystem has plans to re-release Nike-sponsored workout album 45:33 in early November after another mini-European tour, along with three UK B-sides previously unavailable in the states. FABRICLIVE36: James Murphy & Pat Mahoney, a mix album from LCD Soundsystem founder Murphy and percussionist Pat Mahoney, will also be out later that month.
