Loney, Dear is the moniker of Sweden’s Emil Svanangen. As with many other musicians coming out of the blistering cold of Sweden, Emil is a jack of all trades.
He tracked all of the instrumentation for Loney, Noir in his home studio, with only backing vocals as outside influences. Much of the music is upbeat, not straying far from pop sensibility standards, but the boy makes his music with a lot of heart, which makes up for any lack of mind-blowing originality.
The end result is somewhere between Belle & Sebastian and The Postal Service. Loney, Noir is a light, jaunty example of one man’s creative vision.
