Man Man Signs to Anti- Records, Sets Album for Spring

Philadelphia’s schizophrenic, battle-paint-clad, Gypsy-tinged folk rockers Man Man have announced their signing to Anti- Records. Joining the ranks of icons such as Tom Waits and Neko Case, the band will release their follow up to 2006’s Six Demon Bag (Ace Fu) in Spring 2008.

The band has received plenty of praise over the last few years, from Pitchfork to NPR, and were declared as the best band in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Weekly in 2006. The band also made a name for itself as an exceptional live act while touring with Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, and the Fiery Furnaces. White short shorts, flying spoons, stuffed dolls and toys, and a rabid crowd — these are the things you can expect when you see Man Man.

As the band puts the finishing touches on the album, its members had the following to say about the signing: Lead howler Honus proclaimed “Championship Rings!”, guitarist Cougar expressed his desire for a “Pizza Party!”, and drummer Pow Pow sent a message out to the females of the nation with “Ladies, Please!” Confused? You probably should be. This is Man Man.
