MM.. an MF Doom Tour!

MF Doom, the man of a thousand collaborations and aliases, has announced the dates for his first foray into the concert circuit since his 2004 MM.. Food Drive Tour. In addition, Rhymesayers has scheduled the re-release of his MM..Food? album, which will feature a DVD of footage from the ’04 tour, for July 24.

MF Doom fans have been waiting with bated breath for a solo full-length follow-up since the delicious MM..Food? dropped. But fans will again get to see him live on a deceptively month-long tour that begins July 29 and includes a number of stops on the Rock the Bells traveling festival.

But what else, you say, has Doom been doing?

Well, on the heels of his hugely successful alliances with Madlib as Madvillain and Danger Mouse as Dangerdoom, the literate lyricist produced two tracks for Wu-Tang Clan‘s Ghostface Killah in 2006, and soon thereafter a collaboration between the two was announced.

Since then, the only news of the Ghost-Doom disc has been a title, Swift & Changeable, and one track, “Angels,” featured on the 2006 Nature Sounds compilation. As far as a release date goes, a statement from Nature Sounds only says, “As a matter of policy, we don’t speculate on release dates until they are firm, and once we announce a release date we will stick to it 100%.”

Besides that, MF Doom has also reportedly been working on the sequel to Madvillain‘s Madvillainy (Stones Throw). Most recently, the duo contributed the song “Monkey Suite” to the Chrome Children compilation, the CD/DVD set co-produced by Stones Throw and Adult Swim that also featured tracks from J Dilla, Madlib, and the combination of those two, Jaylib.

Make sure to catch MF Doom when he rolls into town because the man has too many side projects to count, not to mention a wife and two children, so there’s no telling when he’ll be back.
