NOMO, John Vanderslice, Bobby Conn to Play Tomorrow Never Knows

Schubas Tavern in Chicago is hosting its annual pop fest, Tomorrow Never Knows, for the fourth time. Running from January 16-20, the festival includes afro-beat eight-piece NOMO, acoustic songwriter John Vanderslice, prog-pop musician Bobby Conn, and indie rockers The Walkmen, Cloud Clout, Illinois, and White Rabbits.

The lineup is a veritable mix of indie melodicists, but NOMO’s infectious grooves and heavy horns may be the festival’s highlight. Other supporting acts include Young Galaxy, Hylozoists, Wax Fang, Ecstatic Sunshine, Ohmega Watts, White Williams, and White Denim.

In past years, Tomorrow Never Knows has featured Magnolia Electric Co., Pit Er Pat, The 1900s, and Tapes ‘n’ Tapes. This year’s event incorporates DJs upstairs for each night. Every show is 18 and up, but there will be all-ages performances at 2 PM on January 19 and 20, held by Paul Green’s School of Rock Music with a southern roots rock tribute.

Tickets go on sale today, November 16, at noon CST. One-day passes range from $10-15 per show, and five-day passes are $55. Tickets can be purchased on the official Schubas website. For all the up-to-date announcements, check out the festival’s MySpace page.
