The new full-length disc is being billed as a scaled-back, focused effort; the guest musicians are gone except for a stopgap choir. “A Picture of Torn-Up Praise,” Pride‘s haunting opener that can be heard below, offers a plaintive melody with copious vocal overdubs and sparse, acoustic instrumentation.
Pride, Phosphorescent’s debut on Dead Oceans, will be released in the midst of Houck’s month-long US tour.
