Red Sparowes Return to Nest for Third Full-Length Album

Red SparowesAfter spending much of 2007 on the road, epic post-rockers Red Sparowes are busy in the studio, penning a follow-up to 2006’s Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun.

“Unless something comes up that’s just too good to pass up,” bassist/pedal steel player Greg Burns notes in Red Sparowes’ MySpace blog, “we’re going to be hiding in our studio working towards making our best record yet.”

Burns, like his fellow band mates, cut his teeth long ago in independent music; he operated as a member of dark folksters Halifax Pier. Filling out their lineup card, guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer currently performs in Isis, guitarist Josh Graham handles visuals for Neurosis, bassist/guitarist Andy Arahood spent time in Angel Hair, and drummer David Clifford, who played with The VSS and Pleasure Forever, plays bass in The Sagittarians.

Red Sparowes’ upcoming third full-length will likely continue to contrast with the oftentimes metal leanings of the members’ other groups, though the melodic, reverb-soaked soundscapes of the band’s first two albums don’t hurt for distortion. “We’ve already got quite a bit written and we’re very excited about the direction it’s headed in,” Burns’ blog continues. “We can’t wait to share it with you all.”
