Scion broadBand Launches Scion Radio 17

Contrary to popular belief, video really only maimed the radio star. The internet’s here to finish the job, and Scion broadBand may be the death knell.

Besides featuring seventeen different stations, including VICE Records Radio, Wax Poetics Radio, and Root Down Sound, newly launched Scion Radio 17 is updated monthly with new programming, guest DJs, and interviews galore.

Scion broadBand has until now been focused mostly on utilizing an interactive format to inform consumers about the company’s various products and promotions. Its main channel, The Skinny, debuted with the site and offers five channels of streaming audio and video.

Apparently, that just wasn’t enough for Scion, known for its unconventional marketing. Now, just months after introducing us to their broadband capabilities, Scion has more good news.

Scion Radio 17 is the car manufacturer’s effort to move beyond typical cross-promotional concerts, contests, and mix CDs by offering streaming internet radio twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The seventeen different channels are updated monthly, and those subscribed to Scion‘s newsletter will get a heads-up each time the lineup changes and guests or interviews are added.
