Michael Moore’s examination of the U.S. healthcare system will hit theaters this summer after a showing at the Cannes Film Festival.
Sicko, the newest film from lightning rod of controversy Michael Moore, will be released nationwide on Friday, June 29.
The documentary, which was selected for this year’s Cannes Film Festival, takes a critical look at the much-maligned healthcare system in the United States.
Moore has also recently made headlines because the federal government opened an investigation about whether or not he violated a travel ban to Cuba while attempting to get medical attention for supposed World Trade Center rescue workers.
Film company Lionsgate can only hope that Sicko is half as successful as Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore’s last film. His feature about George W. Bush, the September 11, 2001 attacks, and the war in Iraq earned $222.4 million in the worldwide box office and won the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
