The Dillinger Escape Plan Show Flashes of Ire Works

The Dillinger Escape PlanChamping at the bit for the forthcoming album from progressive tech-metal masters The Dillinger Escape Plan? Get a first-hand look at the group rocking material from Ire Works, which is tentatively slated for release on October 16, and introducing fans to new drummer Gil Sharone (Stolen Babies, Puscifer).

Three years in the making, Ire Works has just one original member of the group — guitarist Ben Weinman — contributing to the recording process. The departure of drummer Chris Pennie to Coheed & Cambria and nerve damage to the left hand and arm of guitarist Brian Benoit, the latter of whom handled electronics during a brief touring stint in 2005, could create a sonic course for The Dillinger Escape Plan other than the more expansive sound of 2004 full-length album Miss Machine.

And though bassist Liam Wilson contends that Ire Works is a more realized version of what the group added to its repertoire with Miss Machine, it’s sure to shred even if it isn’t. To get fans nice and geared up for the new disc, the band has posted a handful of online trailers, the most recent of which presents another glimpse of Sharone’s mayhem and can be viewed below.

As for Benoit, it seems unlikely that he will be healthy enough to rejoin The Dillinger Escape Plan in the near future, but his place in the band is assured if he is capable.

The group is also in the process of planning a world tour that is set for September.
