Thee Silver Mt. Zion Announces 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons

silvermtzion.jpgCanadian post-rock group Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-la-la Band is scheduled to release their fifth full-length LP, entitled 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons, on March 25.

Centered on riff-driven compositions and unyielding politicized lyrics, the follow-up to 2005’s Horses in the Sky promises to be a louder, more progressive endeavor.

In the years since the release of Horses in The Sky, Silver Mt. Zion has focused primarily on live performances, touring extensively in North American and Europe. 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons evolved from songs the band crafted while on tour. Listeners can look forward to the same edge that the band is well known for in songs such as “1,000,000 Died To Make This Sound” and “Black Waters Blowed.”

Composed of three members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Silver Mt. Zion uses methodically layered sound to create music that is both aggressive and subtle. Joining the band is new drummer Eric Craven, formerly of the two-piece band Hangedup. Lead vocalist Efrim Menuck reprises his role as the backbone of the group, providing raspy verses over minimalist arrangements.

Silver Mt. Zion will be touring following the release of 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons in early 2008.
