Voodoo Music Experience Announces 2007 Roster

New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience Festival is back this year with a line-up that will make you cry. Get yourself a box of tissues and take a look at why ALARM’s already got tickets.

The festival, which will take place October 26, 27, and 28 at City Park, includes some unexpected names on 2007’s “Artists of the Ritual” lineup, the most notable being newly reunited Rage Against the Machine, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Sinead O’Connor.

Other Artists of the Ritual who will be performing on the festival’s Grand Altar stage include Wilco, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Kings of Leon, M.I.A., and Porcupine Tree.

New Orleans-based funk artists Galactic, whose forthcoming album From the Corner to the Block (featuring a plethora of hip hop luminaries like Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, Boots Riley of The Coup, and The Gift of Gab of Blackalicious) will be released August 21 on Anti-, will also be making an appearance on the Grand Altar this year.  Lif and Lyrics Born will both be in attendance to share the stage with Galactic.

The other two stages, The Flambeau and The Carnival, will feature acts celebrating New Orleans’ musical history and traditions in addition to its underground arts and bohemian culture, respectively.

Last year’s attendance was  to 100,000, and VMX 2007 is sure to top that. Weekend passes go on sale June 29, a week from today, so mark your calendars and don’t miss out! ALARM’s going to be there – are you?
