Political punk rock quartet Anti-Flag have announced they will be playing three “protest shows” including their August 30 appearance Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, a free concert on the lawn of St. Paul Minnesota’s capital building, and a third show opening for fellow protest-rockers Rage Against the Machine at the Target Center in Minneapolis, which will take place simultaneously with the 2008 Republican National Convention in the same city.

Anti-Flag will use their time at Bumbershoot to help register voters, and raise awareness for The Washington Bus a non-profit group that seeks to motivate young people to become involved in their communities through civic engagement and making their voices heard.

The St. Paul show includes performances by Dead Prez,  Michael Franti and Spearhead, and Wookiefoot with Matisyahu, among others. The event was organized by Substance, a non-profit begun by three activists under the age of 23 all determined to break down issue and generational barriers, while addressing pertinent environmental and social justice topics.
