Eternally upbeat Swedish indie rockers I’m From Barcelona have released a video for “Paper Planes,” off of their upcoming second album Who Killed Harry Houdini?, out October 14 on Mute Records, inspired from frontman Emanual Lundgren’s erstwhile attempt at a career as a magician. A free download of a second song from the record “Music Killed Me,” can be found on the band’s website.
I’m From Barcelona first came to attention in 2006, with the release of their 2006 EP Don’t Give Up On Your Dreams, Buddy!, followed by their first full length, Let Me Introduce My Friends (both on Dolores Recordings) later that year. The 29-piece band combines horns, woodwinds and accordions with traditional rock instruments in a way that is refreshingly light and breezy, despite the large number of musicians involved.
Directed by Jonas Odell (U2, Franz Ferdinand), the video for “Paper Planes” depicts Lundgren on a very long elevator ride with an increasingly eccentric group of passengers. Could they symbolize the members of Lundgren’s band, who combined would obviously exceed this elevator’s maxiumum capacity? We can only speculate. Check out the video below!
