Winners for The International Songwriting Competition [ISC] were recently announced, bestowing prestige upon the handful of aspiring songwriters from around the globe. “Weird Al” Yankovic, Frank Black, Tom Waits, Robert Smith, and Ray Davies were amongst the big name industry judges for the competition. Submissions were evaluated on the basis of their creativity, originality, lyrics, melody, and composition.
This years grand prize went to Eduard Glumov and Z. Mulls, a cross-cultural pair of songwriters hailing from Kazakstan and Pennsylvania respectively. The song entitled “I’m not your friend” took top honors for it’s “originality, arrangement, and compelling melody”. The pair met each other on songwriting network site musemuse.com. Winning the competition yielded $25,000 in cash and $30,000 in services.
