Lollapalooza 2008, Day 1: The Cool Kids (BMI Stage)

Chicago’s Cool Kids played to a packed audience at Lollapalooza today, their crowd slowly tapering off to run to catch Radiohead at 8pm. Their recklessly throw back-style of hip hop may turn most critics off (including ours) but their live show still creates a party environment with countless awkward white kids in khaki shorts, flip flops, and neon backpacks doing funny dances.

It’s hard to hate on musicians having so much fun, with stunts like bringing their Dad on stage (Mikey Rocks Sr.) and their animated played-out hip hop stage-direction (when I say hey you say…) they’re an endearing duo. They debuted a new song from their upcoming full length, When Fish Ride Bicyles as well as the track “Oscar”, which you can hear below.
