Chicago-based Pelican have been very busy. First and foremost, the hard rock outfit announced they will be issuing a limited edition 10″ split with peers These Arms Are Snakes. The band collaborated on last year’s Pink Mammoth and decided to give it another go-around this year. These Arms Are Snakes have rerecorded their song “Diggers Of Ditches” with Pelican giving their own musical input to the track as well. Hydra Head will be issuing only 3000 of the records, as well as an even rarer CD version. Also, the band will be releasing The Fire In Our Throats on double LP via Viva Hate Records.
The first opportunity to purchase the limited edition merchandise will be on Pelican‘s upcoming European fall tour, which is in support of last year’s stellar album City Of Echoes. They will venture across the pond with labelmates Torche and will be seeing much of western Europe from mid-September to mid-October. Afterwards, plans are in the works for a U.S. tour, but details are still brewing.
As if that wasn’t enough to have under their belt, Pelican has also recently recorded a split 7″ with Young Widows, and it will be making it’s way to you via Temporary Residence in early 2009. They are also working on a split 7″ with Suicide Note. Oh, did we mention that this is all on top of writing and recording their new album due early next year? Yeah, well, it is.
Elsewhere – as if the band didn’t have enough on its plate already – guitarist Trevor de Brauw’s other project Teith will be reissuing their out-of-print Oak City EP on Thirty Ghosts, which is due in mid-October.
