Take a Deep Breath Opens, Asbestos to Appear on Culture Shock Radio

TAKE A DEEP BREATH group exhibition opened over the weekend at Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art. Co-sponsored by ALARM Magazine and Imeem, the exhibition runs though July 20 and features new works by Asbestos, Cherri Wood, The Dark, Kngee and Know Hope. Visiting international artists have also been extending their installation to works in the street to create a colorful urban landscape and striking imagery for passer-by.

Take A Deep Breath contributing artist, The Dark, from Vancouver created a special playlist for the exhibition, featuring his original, experimental music compositions and voice overs.

Also of interest, CULTURE SHOCK Radio, The Art and Music Connection, a new communications platform from CULTURE SHOCK NYC will feature an exclusive interview with Asbestos, on Monday, June 30th. Art, music, and culture fans are invited to tune-in and listen to Asbestos’ soundtrack of the city streets, discover how he first encountered graffiti, what music influences his art, and more only on CULTURE SHOCK Radio.

The songs played on CSR are selected from a playlist provided by the artist being interviewed or are played in reference to a song, musicians or album mentioned in the interview itself. CULTURE SHOCK Radio explores the connection between music and visual artists that specialize in street art and graffiti, urban art, and other emerging contemporary art movements. Hosted by DJ hiLL, the program also features interviews with curators and critics to further paint a picture of the arts community.
