On September 9th the musical innovator turned indie sweetheart, Chad VanGaalen, will release his third LP Soft Airplane on Sub Pop records. The LP will be released nearly a year after Skelliconnection, VanGaalen‘s second disc, was honorably mentioned on the shortlist for the 2007 Polaris Music Prize. For Airplane, the Calgary native retreated to the familiar confides of his basement turned studio to record the disc on an old tape recorder. Once again, VanGaalen has recorded all of the instruments in a one-man band format that sees him playing on all of Soft Airplane‘s 13 tracks.
