Vans Warped Tour To Do Relief Work In Louisiana

On July 7th, artists, crew, and sponsors from the Vans Warped Tour will be taking a day off from music assist in rebuilding the communities of hurricane victims in Louisiana. It’s been over two years since hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the US’s Gulf Coast, but – sadly – things still haven’t gotten back to normal in many of the areas. All of the donations and volunteer effort has declined greatly in the past year, and smaller communities are still feeling the effects. While larger communities like New Orleans have gotten much of the publicity and have received much of the relief work and public aid, there are numerous smaller communities that are still greatly struggling with the aftermath.

The volunteer work is nothing new the Vans Warped Tour. In 2006, they brought over 400 volunteers to Cameron Parish, Louisiana to assist in clearing away over 7 tons of debris. Seeing what an excellent job the Warped Tour did in 2006, The Volunteer Center of Southwest Louisiana and Cameron Community Action/Council on Aging have asked them to return this year to lend a helping hand. Now the Vans Warped Tour is teaming up with Unite the United Foundation to assost the community once again by helping to rebuild their homes, libraries and community centers.
