Waterfalls for the Big Apple!

Looks like man just one-upped nature in the “anything you can do, I can do better” contest. Inspired by the revenue generated by the 2005 Central Park installation “The Gates,” here comes a bigger and better sequel.

That sequel, the $15 million art installation “NYC Waterfalls,” is being funded by the New York Public Art Fund and borne from the mind of artist Olafur Elliason. The waterfalls are said to be 90-120 feet in height and eco-conscious in design, taking into full account the marine life surrounding the fixtures.

Four man-made cascades will be on display from mid-July to mid-October throughout parts of Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.
