What We’re Seeing Friday: Mucca Pazza, Coltrane Motion, The Arctic Circle

Back-to-back nights at The Empty Bottle? Absolutely, if it means seeing funky party-time marching band Mucca Pazza slither through the crowd with mismatching uniforms and sassy cheerleaders.

Mucca Pazza, Coltrane Motion, The Arctic Circle @ The Empty Bottle

Headlining at the Bottle for the Co-Op Image Group Benefit, funky party-time marching band Mucca Pazza helps raise funds for public arts and education programs aimed at needy youths.

The group’s surf-tinged, Balkan-flavored, high-energy performance is sure to get the crowd dancing, and hopefully, it will get the checkbooks open — if only for the benefit, not the members’ mismatching (high-school?) uniforms.

Mucca Pazza’s myriad members include trombonist Nick Broste of local jazz sextet Herculaneum, but opening rockers Coltrane Motion are jazzy in name only. Both groups get an interesting, sample-heavy glitch-hop opener in The Arctic Circle (not the UK band of the same name).
