Coming off its well-received 2009 album, Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune’s Made (Asthmatic Kitty), California-based Fol Chen returns with another glitch-pop opera. This time around, its members, known for wearing masks and assuming aliases, enlist the help of Angus and Aaron of Liars, LA-based singer Kárin Tatoyan, and singer-songwriter Simone White. What results is a collection of stuttering, hook-laden pop songs with a freaky cloud of darkness hovering ominously above. Check out the bizarre Keith Musil-directed video for “The Holograms” below:
