Chicago’s Pelican, known for hard-hitting instrumental rock, announced two shows in celebration of its 10-year-anniversary box-set release, out October 19 on Viva Hate Records. The set will combine material from four full-lengths and three EPs and will be packaged in a deluxe wooden box. Fans will have to act quickly; it will be released in a limited run of 500 copies.
Pelican will bring its unique take on metal to Chicago’s Bottom Lounge on October 23, joined by friends and collaborators The Life & Times. Also in attendance will be Munster, Indiana’s Three Floyds Brewery. The brewery plans to unveil a Pelican-dedicated Doppelbock — the members’ favorite variety. The beer will be served at the Chicago show and at select locations and specialty shops around the Chicagoland area for a limited time.
A week later, Pelican will join forces with doom-metal band Goatsnake on October 30 at the Troubador in Los Angeles.
